Immigrant Resource Center
The Cape Verdean Immigrant Resource Center seeks to connect recent immigrants with resources and organizations that can ease their transition into Boston and the US. Partnering with emigrant-serving organizations in Cape Verde, the Consulate General of Boston, and members of the Cape Verdean Providers network, the Immigrant Resource Center strives to reach immigrants prior to their arrival.
Parental Advocacy Group will be used as a resource for other parents in their quest for a high-quality education for their children and any problems facing our community. It will make parents understand they can raise their hands to ask questions, use their voice, and unite with other parents and education reform groups in the interest of making students the new priority in the current education system and participate in discussion of the everyday issues facing our community.
Cape Verdean Independence
The Cape Verdean Association of Boston hosts the annual Independence Celebration and Flag Raising at Boston City Hall Plaza on the dates of July 4 and 5. Organized by a committed group community residents under the Cape Verdean Independence Celebration Committee (CVICC), the festival environment helps to showcase Cape Verdean culture, art, music, and food in a family friendly environment. First held on July 4, 1987, the event’s prime position on July 4 helps to expose tourists visiting Boston to Cape Verdean culture.
